Almost every company wants artificial intelligence to infuse into their products and services. And Microsoft has always been a key player and have already been in the forefront of progressing through AI. Their products such as Cortana, Bing search engine, and Azure are few examples where the capabilities of artificial intelligence have been successfully implemented.
And now its turn to Office 365 suite. Microsoft is working to improve the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence in Office 365.
In the coming months the world’s most widely used office productivity products – Word, Excel and Outlook will have new features powered by AI. And in addition to this, they will improve Cortana so that it behaves more naturally.
The company wants to bring artificial intelligence to most of its products, so that even the most casual user can benefit.
Excel:
Excel will have a new feature called “Insights” that will arrive first at the Office Insider program in late December.
With Insights Excel you will be able to highlight the patterns you detect so that the user has it easier when analyzing and exploring your data. Machine learning will enable Excel to identify trends and outliers in spreadsheets, as well as provide new insights into the data.
Word:
In the case of word processing, Word will have a new feature called “Acronyms”. This will help users better understand the shorthand of a document using Microsoft Graph, showing definitions of terms that have already been defined. This feature will first arrive at Word Online in Office 365 in early 2018.
Outlook:
Outlook’s iOS app will also receive enhancements thanks to its integration with Cortana. The virtual wizard will help the mail app inform users when it’s time for an important appointment, as well as provide addresses and arrival times by location.
OneDrive and SharePoint:
These two products will now be able to not only recognize the content within the images you have stored, but will be able to automatically extract text from the images and let you search through things like receipts, cards, and more. All Office 365 users will receive this feature by the end of December 2017.
Cortana:
There’s something very new coming up in Cortana. You will probably see this coming with the next big update of Windows 10. AI’s ability has been used to add useful features. For example, it can do things like help you book tickets and automatically add the event to your calendar.
