Little Angels School
I am the strength and reflection of the ambitions of many budding and aspiring minds.
My name is Little Angels’ School and this is the story of my being into existence. You must be wondering what name is that or who am I?
I am not a human being but am alive. I am also not merely a building of stones and bricks or simply a registered institution.
I am the strength and reflection of the ambitions of many budding and aspiring minds.
21 years ago on the 16th of March was laid the foundation of Little Angel’s School with a mere strength of just 20 students and now it takes pride to have a strength of around 500 students.
Women with great determination and Vision laid the foundation of small Primary School on a piece of land 750 square yards, open for admission in the hot month of April 2000 under a tent with just three rooms and an office under construction.
Determination and willingness to pivot
Yes, the story is about the Founder Principal and Director Mrs. Anjana Purohit, a 54-year young lady hailing from a small town, who led the march, breaking the Taboo. Young lady because you can still feel the strength and enthusiasm in her. Born and raised in a conservative family, Anjana was married at the age of 17, Her grandmother’s wish who was suffering from cancer lead to her early marriage before she could even complete her schooling. Leaving her studies halfway she was married in the same town to a boy 8 years elder to her.
The assurance by in-laws to pursue her studies staying at parent’s place after marriage could not be continued as she had to accompany her husband, who got posted in a distant town as a bank employee.
A visit to parents on the death of her maternal grandmother came as a blessing in disguise. She insisted to resume her studies as a regular student staying with her parents. Anjana was lucky enough to get moral support from her husband to continue her studies.
Anjana’s innate hunger for learning and pushing her limits led her to pursue Education. Staying with parents and studying seemed easy but things were not that simple. The demand and expectations of the in-laws due to society’s pressure had to be met despite exams, college etc. In spite of all odds, she managed to complete her graduation. Master’s was her dream yet to be accomplished. With the new member, a baby boy in the family it was difficult to carry on with studies but the dream to pursue post-graduation was still in her eyes and did not let her sleep.
Hailing from the lower middle class and not being financially sound. A big joint family and children to take care of. The dream to go for post-graduation seemed like getting shattered but with the support of her husband, she did her B.Ed and decided to join a nearby school for the monthly salary of just Rs.300.
Luck could always not be that cruel she was selected for Govt Job twice which required traveling to different city. She had to reject the offer as moving to a different city while the kids were too young seemed difficult. Due to family problems she had to move from a joint family to set up her own home with husband and kids with very small income of duo couple.
Fascination to adopt alternative methods of teaching in own school.
While working in a small school she decided once again to complete her Post Graduation third time but she wasn’t destined for it and had to continue with the same old school. When the pressure of the private school became unbearable to cope up even after 11 years of working in the school she decided to quit the job.
But if no job then what…? This is when she decided to start a school of her own and hence the existence of Little Angels School came into being when she decided to start her own little school for the primary kids where she could teach according to her own way. Gradually with the support of the staff, parents and students, the school transformed from a small citywide school into a large and diverse school with more than 400 students.
Little Angels’ School from a land 750 square yards has become a secondary level school covering an area of 2000 square yards with the hard work and efforts of founder Principal and Director Mrs. Anjana Purohit, along with her team of staff members.
