Huawei is launching P20 Pro device, the first one that has triple camera and other exciting features with which it hopes to reduce the gap it has against Samsung and Apple, the world’s leading manufacturers of cell phones.
At an event at the Grand Palais, Huawei unveiled the P20 and P20 Pro models. The HUAWEI P20 Pro has the world’s first triple camera, promising to capture the best images so far from a cell phone.
This camera would be capable of capturing images in environments without lights and where flash cannot be used without losing photo quality thanks to the three Leica lenses, which can obtain as much light as possible in exposures of up to six seconds.
The P20 Pro integrates a triple camera system with the highest pixel resolution available on smartphones today. Its configuration consists of a 40 megapixel RGB sensor, which is rare among smartphones. It also includes a 20MP monochrome sensor and a third 8MP sensor with a telephoto lens, which when combined provides professional-quality images.
It also takes advantage of the “Light Fusion” software that captures all the light available on the scene thanks to its pixels. Openings are also highlighted with f/1.8, f/1.6, and f/2.4, which were long ago unthinkable on a smartphone.
It also has a stabilization system powered by artificial intelligence, which is another distinguishing feature of this device and which had its debut with the Mate 10 model. Powered by the Kirin 970 processor, the HUAWEI P20 series automatically identifies over 500 scenes in 19 different categories, selecting the shooting modes and camera settings that suits best to take the image you want.
For long range photography it features a 5X Hybrid Zoom in addition to the 3X built-in telephoto sensor. The front camera also stands out with 24 megapixels, promising very high quality selfies with skin tone adjustments for a more natural look and outlined facial details.
Another novelty of this device is the super slow motion mode of up to 960 FPS, which is 4 times higher than the standard 240 FPS, capable of capturing details that are not visible to the naked eye. This has been a market trend and is the first time that Huawei has incorporated this feature into the smartphone.
Other features of the P20 Pros include 128GB of storage, 6.1-inch OLED display, Kirin 970 processor, 6GB of RAM and 4,000mAh battery. It also has dual SIM and microSD card reader.
As for the design it incorporates the screen with the slimmest edges in the history of the Chinese brand and the so-called notch that made the iPhone X popular. The fingerprint reader will remain under the screen.
The P20 series has four P20, P20 Pro models and two special PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate RS versions, which are also the first to debut with wireless fast charging.
The prices announced for mobile phones in Europe are 649 euros for the P20 and 899 euros for the P20 Pro.
